First Baptist is a bit.... well different.  We stand without apology on the Word of God as our only source of Faith and Practice.  We believe that the Bible is in the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God that has been preserved intact for Christians today.  We don’t stop at the point of saying it was inspired in the original manuscripts and then somehow God allowed His Word to be lost as time progressed.  We believe that the Bible we teach and preach from does not contain the Word of God- it IS the Word of God.  That makes us a bit different.

Even though we are Biblical literalists you will not find us making up rules to fit our opinions that are not found in Scripture.  For example, I think I am one of a few here that wear a tie on Sunday morning.  I cannot find one place in the Bible that says “ Ye must wear a suit”.  I do find where the Bible says “ Forsake not the assembling of yourself together”. The Bible is a book of ‘do’s”.  If you are so busy doing the “do’s” you don’t have time to do the “don’ts”.  If you visit us, you will find that it is possible to be Biblically faithful without being legalistic or formal.  That makes us a bit different.
